Arsenal are all set to face Chelsea in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals. The Gunners won the first leg of the semifinals 3-2 at the Stamford Bridge, hence they enter the second leg at home with a slender advantage.

In lead up to the semifinals, Mikel Arteta was asked if the squad believes that they could go on to win the Treble this season. The Gunners are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with a six-point lead, and have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, winning all eight league stage matches.

Mikel Arteta stated that his team are currently focused on their next match, and are not thinking too far ahead. “Well I think we go day by day, competition by competition and tomorrow we have a really tough game against a very good Chelsea side. We have the home advantage, we have a good result but we have still a lot, a lot to do tomorrow to end the right to win the final. There’s no point talking about it. All we can talk and control is what we do daily to sustain the level that we have or to improve it I think,” said Arteta.

Arsenal ended their run of three winless games in the Premier League, as they defeated Leeds United 4-0 on Saturday. With Manchester City dropping points against Spurs on Sunday, this meant that the Gunners now extend their lead at the top top six points.

Mikel Arteta also reiterated the need for his side to focus on the Carabao Cup without being carried away. “Yes, I mean the next one is always the most important one, and it is the closest to reaching a final. Tomorrow we are going to have people who really need to create the atmosphere, the energy, the belief that we are going to do it, and all together, I am sure we are very capable of doing that.”
