Andy Murray recently spoke about his early years on the tour, when he used to practice with Roger Federer. The Brit revealed that the 20-time Grand Slam champion never practiced with the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, whom he saw as rivals.

Andy Murray revealed that he practiced with Federer during his first couple of years on tour, however, the Swiss legend stopped training with him as he identified him as a competitor. Andy Murray started peaking in the early 2010s, when he started making deep runs at Grand Slam events regularly.

Andy Murray is regarded a part of the legendary Big Four which involves the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. The Briton claimed three Grand Slam titles in his playing days, and also claimed two singles Olympic gold medal in London and Tokyo.

Andy Murray stated that he would have loved to practice alongside Federer more often, after he stopped training with him. The duo faced off 25 times in their playing career, with Murray winning on 11 occasions. Andy Murray played his last professional match at the Paris Olympics last year, where he lost with Dan Evans in the Men’s Doubles quarterfinals.

When I first started, I would practice with Federer. But after a year or two, he stopped; he wouldn’t practice with me anymore. He never practiced with Djokovic or Nadal, I think, because he considered them to be a competitor. I like practicing with them just because it gave me the chance to see where my game was at,” said Murray.
