Boris Becker believes Novak Djokovic has realistically given up hopes of winning a 25th major title

Boris Becker believes that Novak Djokovic has realistically given up hopes of winning a 25th Grand Slam title. The Serbian has now gone two successive seasons without winning a Grand Slam, with his last title coming at the 2023 US Open. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has been overshadowed by both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who have shared eight majors between themselves.

Novak Djokovic managed to reach the semifinals of all four Grand Slams this season, losing to Jannik Sinner at the French Open and Wimbledon. He was defeated in straight sets by Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals of the 2025 US Open. The Serb admitted that it will be difficult for him to win another major given the dominance of Sinner and Alcaraz.

Hence, Boris Becker believes that Novak Djokovic has realistically given up on his dream about winning another Grand Slam title. “I think, now he’s admitted that he can’t realistically win a Grand Slam because of his age and the strength of the youngsters [Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner]. What exactly does that mean? Does that mean he’ll stop at some point? Do you have any idea when that could be? Do you think he’s playing a full Grand Slam year?,” said Becker.

Former #1 ranked Doubles player believes Novak Djokovic will not play 2026 French Open

Former World No.1 doubles players Rennae Stubbs believes Novak Djokovic will not compete beyond the 2026 Australian Open. The Serbian has achieved maximum success at the Australian Open, winning ten titles in Melbourne.

Rennae Stubbs believes that Novak Djokovic will not be able to compete with the likes of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in a best of five sets match at the French Open. Hence, she believes that 2026 Australian Open could be a great way for the Serbian to end his Grand Slam career. Novak Djokovic last won the Australian Open in 2023, when he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets.

“I feel like the Australian Open is going to be his last major tournament to play. I don’t think he wants to keep playing after that and have to go through the French Open. He is so good on every surface but I can’t see him beating these guys over five sets on clay and then to go to Wimbledon again. I feel like the Australian Open would be a great way to finish his career,” said Stubbs/
