“It is better to be six than eight points behind” : Pep Guardiola says his team must start winning as he reacts to Liverpool-Arsenal draw

Manchester City have been on a recent slump of form, drawing their last three PL games. They started off with a 0-0 draw against Sunderland, followed by a 1-1 draws at home against Chelsea and Brighton. Pep Guardiola’s side have dropped some vital points over the festive period, as they now sit six points behind league leaders, Arsenal.
Arsenal were also held to a 0-0 draw at Emirates by Liverpool, as they failed to extend their lead to eight points at the top of the PL table. Pep Guardiola stated that being six points behind is better than eight, as he reacted to the stalemate at the Emirates.
However, the Spaniard stated that his team must start winning in order to compete with Arsenal. He stated that despite dropping points in three successive matches, the players do not question the process, and are confident of turning things around quickly.
Several players have joined Manchester City over the past season or two, and Pep Guardiola stated that some of them are still learning to play under pressure, given the stage of the PL season.
“It would be a mistake to think about them. We have always found a way to win games. We draw the last three but we are not questioning the process. But we will find a way,” reports Football London.
“When we draw a game it is fair, lose it is fair because we have to do better. It is better to be six than eight points but we have to win games to be contenders. Everything is open. What I said in the past, it is a process to grow as a team. Many players have never played a final. I am so optimistic and happy that there are many things we are doing really well,” added Pep Guardiola.
Furthermore, Manchester City have a demanding list of fixtures in January, which involves fixtures across all four competitions. They host Exeter City in the FA Cup 3rd round fixture on Saturday, followed by a midweek trip to Newcastle for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal. They face Manchester United in a crunch Derby next weekend, and they also have two UCL group-stage matches towards the end of the month.
