“If he doesn’t believe, then it’s not going to happen” : Patrick Mouratoglou on why he thinks Novak Djokovic can’t win a 25th Grand Slam title
Patrick Mouratoglou believes that he does not think that Novak Djokovic will win a 25th Grand Slam title. The Serbian managed to reach the semifinals of all four Grand Slams this year, however, was defeated by Jannik Sinner at the French Open and Wimbledon, and by Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open.
Patrick Mouratoglou believes that Novak Djokovic has lost the confidence of winning another major given the domination of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The duo have won four majors each in the last two seasons, and have competed against each other in the last three Grand Slam finals.
The tennis coach believes that unlike the past, Novak Djokovic has started expressing a lot of self-doubt. Novak Djokovic has managed to claim just one title this season in Geneva.
“He is the best of all time without any doubt. But even the way he expresses it makes me feel that he doesn’t believe he can. When you hear the press conference after his loss against Alcaraz at the US Open. He basically says, ‘I don’t know how I can do that.’ If he doesn’t believe, then it’s not going to happen,” said Mouratoglou.
Patrick Mouratoglou advises Novak Djokovic to draw motivation from Olympic final
The French tennis coach asked Novak Djokovic to draw inspiration from the Olympic finals in Paris last year. The Serbian battled past Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. He was overshadowed by Sinner and Alcaraz, but brought his best game in the finals of the Olympics.

“I would make sure that Novak would really believe that he could beat them, because I think that he can. I think it’s a question of motivation. In his career, when it was a question of life or death for him, he was always successful. I think the example of the final of the Olympic Games is a great example. He was completely dominated by Carlos and Jannik and not winning anything, and then suddenly the Olympics come, and it’s a title he wants more than anything, and he delivers the match to beat Carlos in the final,” he added.
