Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have dominated men’s tennis for the last couple of years. The duo have won four Slams each in the last two seasons, and faced off against each other in each of the last three Grand Slam finals. The duo recently competed at an exhibition match in South Korea, where Carlos Alcaraz won 7-5, 7-6.

In lead up to the event, Jannik Sinner was asked about his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz, and if he thinks it can be compared to that of the Big Three involving Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. The Italian stated that he was grateful to be involved in this fierce rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz, however, he refused to compare their rivalry with the Big Three.

Jannik Sinner stated that even on the current tour, there are several good players who could not be discounted. The Italian hopes to continue improving this season, as his battle with Carlos Alcaraz further intensifies.

We cannot compare to the big3 and we don’t want to. We are just ourselves and we want to make our own story. In sports we shouldn’t compare so much, everyone is different. I’m happy to be part of this duo. But there are a lot of great players too and if we drop down even a bit they could replace us, so it’s great to have him because he pushes me to the limit and hopefully I improve every time we play or I watch him play,” said Sinner.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz opted out of any tournaments in lead up to the 2026 Australian Open. The two leading players of the world will start their 2026 AO campaigns next week, as the first Major of the year gets underway. Jannik Sinner has been dominating in Melbourne since the last two years, as he looks to complete a hattrick of titles.

Meanwhile, for Carlos Alcaraz, the Australian Open is the only Slam missing from his cabinet. The Spaniard was defeated in the quarterfinals by Novak Djokovic in four sets last time around. He will certainly be looking to finally do well in the ‘Down Under’ this time.
