“You’re the best player in the world” : Alexander Zverev pays biggest tribute to Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner claimed his 22nd ATP Title in Vienna on Sunday, as he defeated Alexander Zverev in three sets in the final. After losing the first set, the Italian had to dig deep to claim a comeback victory over the German. Alexander Zverev was full of praise for Jannik Sinner, who is enjoying yet another splendid year on the tour.
Jannik Sinner claimed his second ATP title of the season, in addition to two Grand Slam titles. Jannik Sinner will now compete at the Paris Masters before he turns his attention to the ATP Nitto Finals, where he would be the defending champion.
Alexander Zverev claimed that Jannik Sinner is currently the best player in the world, and stated that his level had been off the charts over the last couple of years. “I’d like to congratulate Jannik, whose level has been off the charts these last two years,” said Zverev. “Currently, for me, you’re the best player in the world. What an amazing year — four Grand Slam finals and two Grand Slam titles. This week of course, simply the best player here in Vienna.“

Alexander Zverev also congratulated Jannik Sinner’s team who have worked so hard over the last couple of years. Alexander Zverev has now lost three consecutive matches against Jannik Sinner, previously beating him at the 2025 Australian Open in the finals.
“To your team, of course, very well done. The last couple of years have been amazing. You continue improving. I know Jannik is the biggest part of it, but you guys have such a big part in it as well. The improvement you guys made is amazing to see. Well done and good luck,” said Zverev.
Jannik Sinner had to battle cramps to get past Alexander Zverev, as physical issues resurfaced once again in Vienna. The Italian had to withdraw in the finals of the Cincinnati Masters against Carlos Alcaraz owing to physical issues, and also had to retire in the third set against Tallon Griekspoor in Shanghai. The Italian will look to recover in time for the Paris Masters, as he prepares for the final month of the season.
