“I think they need a Declan Rice” : Paul Scholes on his dream signing for Manchester United

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes recently picked a player who he believes could be a dream signing for his former club. The Red Devils legend picked Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice as the sort of player his former team are missing at the moment.

After arriving from West Ham United in 2023, Declan Rice has been a pivotal part of Arsenal’s last two campaigns. He has taken his game one level further this season, as Arsenal are currently involved in a close title fight with rivals Manchester City.

Declan Rice has not only been influential defensively, but he has been a real threat in attacking this season. The English midfielder is also a huge threat when it comes to set pieces, and taking free kicks.

Hence, Paul Scholes listed Declan Rice as one player he would like to sign for Manchester United. “Yeah, not a dream, but something I think they need is probably a Declan Rice,” said Scholes.

Arsenal will enter the Boxing Day weekend as the league leaders, as they saw off Everton 1-0 in a tense away battle on Saturday night. They entered the match with Manchester City at the top of the league after their thumping 3-0 victory at home against West Ham United.

Arsenal have not been at their best in the last couple of games in the league, with a last gasp victory over Wolves last weekend. With Manchester City running riot and scoring goals for fun in the last couple of weeks, this does ring some warning bells for Mikel Arteta and Co., who have struggled to score goals in the last three PL games.

Arsenal have three back to back home fixtures in the next one week, starting with an EFL Cup quarterfinal with Crystal Palace, followed by clashes against Brighton and Aston Villa to end the year.
