“It’s not serious” : Casper Ruud opines on why the playing conditions in the ‘Battle of Sexes’ between Aryna Sabalenka and Nick Kyrgios are not fair

The Battle of Sexes matchup between Nick Kyrgios and Aryna Sabalenka has gathered a lot of attention from fans and tennis players around the world. While some have applauded the move, some former tennis players and journalists have slammed it, calling it a ‘gimmick.’

Aryna Sabalenka and Nick Kyrgios will clash against each other in this interesting matchup in Dubai on 28th December. Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud also gave his two cents on the upcoming matchup, calling it ‘unserious’, and also pointed out the unfair playing conditions for Nick Kyrgios.

Nick Kyrgios’ side of the court will be 10% bigger than her opponent’s side, and only Aryna Sabalenka would get two serves. Casper Ruud believes that if they really wanted to hold such an event, the rules should be fair for both players.

“If you really want to do it, you need to have fair playing conditions. If the two players are not playing on the same surface and do not have two serves, it’s not serious,” said Ruud.

Ben Shelton opines on the Kyrgios-Sabalenka clash in Dubai

American tennis player Ben Shelton also recently opined on the upcoming battle between Nick Kyrgios and Aryna Sabalenka. He also acknowledged the fact that the battle could be a cchallenging one for the Australian, given his side of the court will be 10% bigger than her opponent’s court.

Ben Shelton also believes that by taking out the second serve from Kyrgios’ artillery, it would really affect his game, given he heavily relies on his strong first serves. However, Ben Shelton stated that he is excited for the event, and he would tune in for the match on 28th December.

I was with both of them last weekend, and it’s going to be tough for him. You know, he has a court that I think is, I think, 9% smaller. He only has one serve; she has two. And obviously, she’s the best player in the world right now. She’s very strong from the baseline. You’re taking away the weapon of his first serve. So I think it’s going to be an interesting match. It’s definitely something I would tune into,” said Shelton.
