Juan Carlos Ferrero describes Carlos Alcaraz as a “chameleon-like” tennis player after Spaniard’s US Open triumph
Carlos Alcaraz claimed his sixth Grand Slam title, as he defeated Jannik Sinner in the 2025 US Open finals on Sunday. The Spaniard dropped only one set in the two weeks in New York, which was against Jannik Sinner in the finals itself. By doing so, he becomes the youngest player to win six major titles.
The Spaniard’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrero heaped praise on him, speaking about his magnificent trait of adapting to any situation quickly. “Carlos Alcaraz is chameleonic and you can ask him for any circumstance in the match, he adapts and in the end he succeeds. The most incredible thing about Carlos is that he is so good at correcting in a very short time the small details that he must improve,” said Ferrero in the press-conference.
Juan Carlos Ferrero also stated that they analyzed Carlos’ performances at the French Open and Wimbledon, and used the analysis in the final against Jannik Sinner. He described the Spaniard’s performance in the final as perfectas he defeated Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4 in two hours and 42 minutes.
Carlos Alcaraz extends winning record over Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner has undoubtedly been the most consistent player on the tour in the last two seasons. The Italian, along with Carlos Alcaraz have won four Grand Slams each in the last two years, and competed in three consecutive major finals.
However, Jannik Sinner has failed to get a hold over Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian has managed to win just one match in their last eight outings, which came a couple of months ago in the US Open finals. Alcaraz has proved too good for his rival off-late, something which Jannik Sinner will look to turnaround.
Carlos Alcaraz has now won six Grand Slam titles, two each at the US Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. He will have his sights set on the 2026 Australian Open title, which will help him complete his Career Grand Slam. Meanwhile, for Jannik Sinner, he became the youngest man to reach all four Grand Slam finals in one year, winning and losing two each.
