“That was terrible” : Emma Raducanu slams reporter who asked Cameron Norrie if he was dating her British compatriot

Emma Raducanu has been among the most popular tennis stars since she broke onto the big stage a couple of years earlier. Recently, her British compatriot, Cameron Norrie was asked if he was dating Emma Raducanu during a press conference at Wimbledon. Emma Raducanu lamented the journalist’s question at a recent interview, slamming it as terrible.
Emma Raducanu stated that like most people, she likes to keep her personal life by herself. She laments the fact that people have often tried to intervene, and find things about her personal life. Recently, with Carlos Alcaraz confirming their entry into the US Open Mixed Doubles event, the pair were again rumored to be dating.
“Yeah, and Cam’s questions, too,” Raducanu responds, laughing. “That was terrible. Terrible.” “I know, I know,” she says, smiling. “I guess it comes with the territory, people being so curious. I think they’re more curious about this news than any tennis results and tennis news. But I just keep to myself, my private life to one side. It’s always funny when people try to find something out, but I try not to read into it so much.”
Emma Raducanu added that she is often hounded by paparazzi even she was just stepping on a bus. “It’s really freaky, because you don’t know they’re there. And then you’ll see a photo of yourself the next day, and you’ll be like: ‘There’s no way they were there,’” she says.
“It’s [comparisons to the US Open] something that never fully leaves you” : Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu became a darling of British tennis after she claimed the 2021 US Open title. However, she has been unable to reach the peak she touched at the Flushing Meadows in 2021. Persistent injuries, and surgeries, coupled with poor form has affected her tennis career since the last couple of years.
Emma Raducanu also stated that the comparisons of her 2021 US Open triumph still continue till date. She has come to terms that it would never leave her completely. The Briton accepted the fact that such thoughts continue to be on the back of her mind, but she does not let them affect her performances.
“It’s [comparisons to the US Open] something that never fully leaves you,” Raducanu says. “I think it’s been four years now, I don’t think it’s fully gone away. Maybe in a few years, maybe when I’m older, more mature, but it’s hard to put that aside completely. It’s always in the back of your mind, but it’s more just being aware of those thoughts and then not letting it crash your day or ruin the work that you’re doing, and bringing it back to what I’m doing now, and the process.”
The Briton has had a busy American summer, where she reached the semifinals at the Citi Open, followed by a third round run at the Canadian Open. She was defeated in the second round of the Cincinnati Open, after putting up a spirited fight against Aryna Sabalenka. The 2021 US Open champion has remained injury-free this season, and with some reasonable amount of tennis under her belt before the final Major of the year, she would certainly be looking for a decent run.
