They believe the “World” is the ones that has America or English language: that’s what I believe,” said Bublik to Ben Rothenberg. His statement does hold true in some sense, as till date, eight Americans have represented Team World in the Laver Cup, followed by three Australians and Canadians each.
Alexander Bublik defeats Tommy Paul in R3 of US Open

Alexander Bublik’s season keeps getting better, as he defeated Tommy Paul in a five-set epic at the Flushing Meadows on Saturday. The 23rd seed stormed into the fourth round of the US Open, where he will now face the reigning champion Jannik Sinner.
Alexander Bublik came into the tournament on the back of consecutive title wins in Austria and in Gstaad. The Kazakh tennis player also managed to reach the quarterfinals at the 2025 French Open, where he defeated the likes of Alex de Minaur and Jack Draper. However, he fell to Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals in straight sets.
Almost three months later, the Kazakh has an opportunity to avenge his defeat in Paris. However, it would be a very difficult task against an opponent, who has been playing sublime tennis at the US Open. Jannik Sinner has won the last three Grand Slams played on hard courts, as he remains undefeated on this such surface in the major events since 2023 US Open.
